“Home Techno-Entertainment” is here and it’s revolutionizing the way we entertain ourselves at home.

If you haven’t already noticed, more and more people are choosing to use their own home as an entertainment center for family and friends . . . and, for good reason.  Today’s technology now offers all kinds of ways for us to escape the outside world and slip into a magical world of hypnotic fun and excitement.  Today’s typical, harried family is so stressed out from work, school and all sorts of activities that they hardly have time to breathe.  So, it should come as no surprise that quality family time is being spent at home.  In fact, since 2013, “cocooning” continues to experience a strong resurgence.

According to Wikipedia, the term “cocooning” is a name given to a trend that sees people socializing less and retreating into their home more.  And with the escalation of violence around the country, it’s no wonder that we’re seeing families take refuge into the safety and comfort of their own homes.

So how are families spending quality time at home?  HGTV identifies the top cool home tech trends that are taking hold.  One trend that particularly caught my eye is “entertainment.”

HGTV says, “Homeowners are using technology to create entertainment rooms with superb sound and video quality plus a high-end design aesthetic. These rooms make great home theaters, but they also work just as well for cocktail gatherings.”  Empty, unused rooms are being transformed into multifunctional media rooms that deliver the ultimate audio and video “sensory sensation.”  Home surveillance cameras offer protection and house-wide lighting controls set the mood.  Why would we ever want to leave the safety, comfort and ambience of our home when we can have all the fun in the world right in our own place?
